In preparation of National Work Zone Awareness Week 2015 (March 23-27), Alabama Guardrail, Inc. staff participated in a one-day Work-Zone Safety Training Course conducted by the Alabama Associated General Contractors. The training session was taught by Tom Robinson - CompTrust Alabama Associated General Contractors Loss Control Consultant.
The course focused on learning and understanding basic work zone safety, proper use and installation of traffic control devices, and work zone safety area planning and setup.
Keith Dillard, vice president for Alabama Guardrail, said “work zone safety is our top priority and educating our staff on the basics of work zone safety will better their chances for staying safe and better inform commuters to be Work-Zone-Aware”.
National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) is an annual spring campaign held at the start of construction season to encourage safe driving through highway work zones and construction sites. The key message is for drivers to use extra caution in work zones.
"As the construction season starts, we need to be mindful of workers and anyone else traveling through work zones by slowing down, paying attention, and driving safely," said Secretary Foxx. "Speeding in work zones is against the law and puts those who work there – as well as those who drive there – in danger."
The theme for this years event is "Expect the Unexpected”.
